‘Refire’ for retirement
Feeling tired? Counting down the days until you can finally retire? For many of you, you would have been working for 40 years, and faced your fair share of good and bad days. With retirement approaching, we want to make sure you make the most of your free time and ignite your passion for life.
Do what makes you happy
There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to retirement. The main objective is do activities that excite you. If you have always been active in sporting or art communities, get a bit more involved now that you have the free time. Set those new fitness goals, paint more often, or create that book club. Find those hobbies that make you happy and become more entrenched in them.
Try something new
Step outside of your comfort zone and try something you haven’t done before. For some, retirement can get boring and humdrum very quickly once the ‘holiday’ feeling wears off and the new routine is set in. This is the time when you need to start getting adventurous and plan activities you’ve thought of doing but never got around to.
Meet the challenge
An opportunity might arise that allows you to make money from your hobbies. You don’t have to take it on, but perhaps meeting the challenge will keep your mind sharp and your body active. This side line money making career will ensure you have a new lease on life, as you will be making money from something you enjoy doing. You have also spent years of your life mastering your expertise, use your spare time to meet with younger individuals in your field and teach them your valued skills.
Retirement is supposed to be a fun period but can be drowned out by the worries of stretching money, finding good healthcare plans as well as the aches and pains you slowly start to feel. Keep these three concepts in mind to ‘refire’ your retirement and make the most of your new lifestyle.
